Personal Passions

I just read Jason Calacanis's letter about the current economic crisis. This was a very well written and thought out post and I thought I need to post something that deals with the path that needs to be taken. What's been done by the wall street executives, mortgage brokers, economic experts… has been done. It's too late to play the blame game.

We need to turn the corner, and look at all the possibilities available.

Now is the time to take chances and start businesses. Now is the time to do the crazy things that you have always wanted but said that you had a good job and didn't want to take the risk. When everything is falling around you, that's when you have to look at what's truly important and put your whole heart into it.

I was recently at dinner with two friends who are pursuing their dreams. Discussion went into what makes each ones of us passionate about our chosen field. It turned out to be the fact that each one of has consciously made a decision to pursue something that makes us truly happy to do each and every day. All three of us are young and full of dreams of what we want to accomplish. What made this experience fulfilling for me, was the fact that we all had very different passions, but the fact that we had passions, connected us.

Ricky, one of my best friends, is an up and coming actor/comic or (comic/actor?) He has made his life's pursuit to become a great actor. He is doing something that some would say is dangerous, crazy, wild, risky. He has chosen to walk the path less traveled. That path will make him happy, will give him opportunities that he could have never imagined if he would have stayed with the original plan.

This is what America needs we need more of Ricky's, Connor's, Mike's. People who are ready to make a difference. People who are not going through the motions. People who don't like the status quo, and want to have a life that they have shaped.

I want everybody who reads this to look at what they're doing. Analyze yourself. See if this is where you want to be in five years. This is the time to make drastic changes. This is the time when you can get rewarded for those changes.

Fortunes are made in economic disasters. Go after your passions and don't look back.

Good luck and have a great journey,

Janis

Very well said, Mr. Krums…PAssion is what it’s all about, and it’s so sad to see people not only hate what they do but admit they are not having any fun…regret is a terrible thing, and I have only experienced it on a small scale…LIFE cannot be a regret…
